Mmm, Mmm Good!

Here's a totally delicious recipe for some Whoppin' Yummy salsa.

1 Can black beans, drained
1 Can corn, drained
Diced tomatoes (3-5 depending on how tomato-ey you want it)
Diced onion
1 Jalapeno, diced (with the hot middle part cut out)
Chopped cilantro

Salt, pepper, Italian dressing to taste

I cook my own beans and freeze them, and I used a lot more than 1 can worth when I made it. I also used frozen corn because I don't really like the canned kind. Either way works, though!

I ate this stuff for lunch and dinner, several days in a row this week. It's so yummy--and healthy too! Enjoy!

Ankle Injuries

Hey, check out this article on a BYU professor that is studying ankle injuries and the persistence of ankle problems. Most of us know what that feels like so I thought you would find it quite fascinating...

Cure for a Phobia

Here is a poem I wrote recently. It was inspired by a conversation I had with Mike a few years ago. Enjoy...or don't... just as long as you don't use any euphemisms to describe it. ;)

Cure for a Phobia
For Ellie, Jacob, Sarah, and Caleb

When the family dog approaches,
Mike’s kids climb his leg, bawl, and squeal.
Yet they’ll call Hudson! from the window
and insist he come and heel.

Mike took them to the museum,
to view mammoths, sloths, and bats;
They bounced to each exhibit
screaming What’s that, what’s that, what’s that?!

When I asked about this irony,
after he’d put his kids to bed, Mike said,
I’m sure they enjoyed it this time
because they’re older and the animals are all dead.

School will NEVER end

Well it appears that my schooling career will continue to drag on for just ONE more week! However, there is always bad news. But thats never fun so lets just go through the good news first!

1st: School is almost over!

2ND: I did good in my English, volleyball classes.

3rd: My volleyball team is going to State, and hopefully the State Championship. And.....yeah that's it.

Bad news:

1st: Kinda failed math. I still have no idea where anyone got the idea that I was good at that stuff.

2ND: Still don't have a job. I have an IDEA for a job, but no job. I am wishing that I could get a job that I wanted that actually worked with me and that I actually liked! However, things are never perfect.

3rd: My grades suffered this year, and I am not proud of it. My future is beginning to crumble before my eyes. (So much for tons and tons of money.)

4Th: Although my volleyball team is doing good, I am not playing very much...at all...bar-none. My happiness and love that I once felt whenever I played volleyball is now diminished. It was fun, and I think I am still pretty good at it. However, that is where it ends.

Anyways, I will let it end there. But thank you all for supporting me through thick and thin this year, and I know that it's helped me become a better brother and person all around. Love you all.

Happy Mother's Day!

Dear Angela, Mommy-Mom, Becca, Lex, and Allie,
I offer this short message of admiration and praise to each of you for being a mother. It is that time of year when the hearts of children are turned with fondness to thoughts of their mothers or those women that have had helped them become who they are. Although I'm sure you never feel that you measure up as a mother, each of you need to know that you will be eternally held in the highest esteem for raising your children (and grandchildren), and passing on a legacy of faith and love. You are amazing!
This is one message the Church has released for Mother's Day. Check it out: https://mail.ldschurch.org/owa/redir.aspx?C=ed01ada3a80f4ed38fd89e35b55a2e8c&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.lds.org%2fmothers-day

Lots of love!
